When we dig deep it brings up challenges, truths and the transformation journey begins.
I know because I have walked a journey just like this. When my parents divorced, I thought my world turned upside down and then they remarried and I was angry at the new people in my life that were trying to make things ok for everyone, but took my mom and dad from me (in my eyes). This impacted the decisions I made in my life that were unhealthy, scary, and downright dumb. Even though I knew right from wrong, I seemed to always choose wrong. Needless to say, with the saving grace of job at a counseling agency, being forced to finish my college degree and the support of my family (even though it was broken apart), all of these challenges made me who I am today and were part of the path to my life as I know it today.
I have the privilege to be able to guide others in their journey. I share some of my story to encourage you that when you dig deep it will be challenging and frustration; however you learn the truth and it will always bring change.
As a therapist for over 20 years, I walk the path with people from their own “stuck” places to a life that is meaningful, satisfying and adventurous. I completed my master’s degree from Wayne State College in Nebraska while providing services to children and families in a wraparound program. Through years of experience and training, I have a strong, deep understanding of childhood and adult developmental process, the complexity of couple’s dynamics to include co-parenting; trauma based treatment, cognitive behavioral techniques, and communication, conflict resolution and parenting strategies for families.
My colleagues and clients would tell you that I am a very real person who truly cares for people in general and shows sincerity in all my encounters. I offer a safe and nurturing place to grow and experience the change journey. My goal is to walk the walk with my clients to find meaning for their behaviors and the road blocks in their path to success. I believe every person has the ability to be successful and happy. I use reality and cognitive behavioral (with some emotion focused thrown in there) therapy, which allows clients to be in the moment with the current issue that has caused the importance of making the call to facilitate change. When the “real truth” is uncovered it allows your greatest needs, wants and desires to be revealed. When the “feeling place” is uncovered it allows your “real story” to be authenticated. When we work together and find where you are “stuck” then we find answers that work in your world to make changes to be the best self you can e for the rest of your life!!

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education from Oklahoma State University and a Masters of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Central Oklahoma and a second Masters of Arts degree in School Counseling with 30 additional hours applying towards the LPC from the University of Central Oklahoma. As a LPC I know that throughout life everyone experiences a time where they feel powerless and out of control. i believe it is important to empower clients by giving them the tools to meet their personal goals. I want to empower the client so they understand that they have the ability to control how they cope or react to these life circumstances. The atmosphere of each session offers a safe empathetic and nonjudgmental place for clients to feel safe through their healing process. I hope to inspire in each of client confidence and innate resiliency that I believe is in each of us. I have a passion for working with young children and teenagers as they struggle to define their identities and search for the place where they fit in best. My other passion and area of expertise lies in dealing with relationship issues, grief, and trauma. This includes marital issues, parent/child, and blended families working through relationship conflict.
